Black Sky Training Gets Approval to Offer Rocket Powered Transition Course

black_sky_sim OVIEDO, Fla. (BST PR) — Black Sky Training in their constant effort to improve safety and training sets yet another milestone in the Commercial Space Industry.

On January 22, 2014, FAA/AST changed Commercial Space and Commercial Space training forever. After 7 years of development and hard work, Black Sky Training has received a first ever approval for a Rocket Powered Transition course.

This course will allow current pilots to receive a certification for Rocket Powered Flight. During the transition course, pilots will receive training in and on rocket powered aircraft, allowing them to legally and safely operate rocket powered aircraft.

“It’s been a long and challenging 7 years,” Black Sky’s CEO George Tyson stated, “being the trailblazers in any endeavor is difficult, but in such a young industry it is even more challenging. Although we will obviously pave the way making it easier for our competition, we ultimately set the standards for Commercial Space Flight Training, and we are extremely proud of our accomplishments.”

“Our goal has been and continues to be, to offer the Gold Standard for training, with FAA/AST approved courses at an affordable price. Our transition course will be on par with other transition course costs. This means for around $ 40,000 US you can get through the Rocket Powered Transition Course.”

Black Sky Training’s Vice President and Director of Marketing went on to explain that there are some pre-requisites that are required to take the Transition course to insure the safety of all involved. BST is currently completing the hardware required for training and projects the first classes to be training in early 2015.

BST is excited to continue moving forward with course offerings and programs designed specifically with Commercial Space travel in mind. Training for safety, educating for funTM. Watch this publication for new and exciting news in the weeks to come.
