The European Extremely Large Telescope (E-ELT) will be able to gather 13X more light than any optical telescope in existence and with its adaptive optics will provide sharper resolution than the NASA/ESA Space Telescope. In June 2015, groundbreaking commenced in Chile for the telescope that will take a decade to build.
