Astronomers using the Very Large Telescope (VLT) in Chile have observed thick clouds of hot dust – the debris of asteroid and comet smash-ups – reflecting starlight (known as Exozodiacal light) in potentially habitable zones of 9 nearby stars. This light may impair astronomers success in spotting exoplanets in such situations.stars.
